The thing that triggered me to write up about this for the umpteenth time was the blasphemy against Maudy Ayunda, an Indonesian singer-songwriter, an artist who recently completed her master’s degree at one of the top universities in the world. She even took a double degree and graduated on time. I won’t talk about privileges or other things that support her. However, I will focus on one of the insults she received — it something like this “Why would Maudy Ayunda go-to for higher education, she’s only gonna be a housewife or marry a wealthy businessman.” Of course, the insecure man who said that. Then there’s more, Twice’s Jeongyeon who recently had a comeback for the summer album edition titled alcohol free received a lot of criticism about her body change which is considered ‘too’ fat for an idol. Even though Jeongyeon is recovering due to her illness, the medication she is taking to treat her illness has a side effect on her weight gain.
I mean, why are there are so many standards set for a woman? Women are considered not beautiful in this way and that, women are considered bad when they do what men usually do, women are considered not good mothers and wives if they cannot cook, even though every mother and wife have their own way of making children and their husband happy and one more bullshit which makes me so annoyed, women can’t be ‘more’ than men because men will be afraid and insecure to approach them, including income, and achievements. Why should women carry the responsibility for men’s insecurity? Your insecurity is your responsibility. Since when is a woman’s standard of living determined by men or society? Women are human beings who are fully independent of themselves. Whatever she does is her responsibility and rights as long as it doesn’t disturb or harm other people.
There is a lot of stigma and things that society says to women.
Like, don’t go for your higher education, men will be afraid to approach, it’s useless because women will only work in the kitchen. Don’t be too fat, because you’re ugly, then no man will go after you, or don’t be too skinny because if you’re too thin, you’ll be ugly. Women who have ideas and dare to speak up are called SJW, bossy, and demanding. A bunch of ugly men make jokes or call women labeling them ‘unvirtuous’ simply because of a hymen? which can tear due to exercise or even be born without it. After all, if a woman is no longer a virgin because of sexual intercourse, most of them also did it with men. Have they forgotten that fact? Is it because of a penis they can just go around, make a useless joke to other people?
It’s not just men, a group of strange women, feel they are more valuable, never have any sin by bringing down other women. They must feel like a diva and live as if the earth is only spinning for them. Starting from the makeup, principles, lifestyle, how to dress, all the things on life are unable to escape from their comments. It’s as if they have the right to determine the standard of living and what women should do with their bodies. With the pretext, just reminding them as if they have the right to reprimand and humiliate women in public. Preaching that women should be like this and what they believe.
There are a lot of little things that really irritate me to see other women being humiliated, ridiculed, even the feeling of being made fun of by a group of people who feel superior. But there are other big things such as the difference in salary between women and men, where a man will be paid more than a woman who has the same position as him, the reason is that men are the breadwinners for their families, unfortunately not all women are lucky to have the one who supports them. There are a bunch of strong women who are the backbone of the family, with an unfair salary system making this world even more disgusting and unfair for women out there. All human beings deserve appreciation, income, and appropriate positions according to their abilities.
Furthermore, stop saying women are too much when they are describing the pain during menstruation, compare them to your ancestors by saying that they were fine during menstruation and had to work because you also don’t know how they feel, right? because every woman’s menstrual pain is different, sometimes even accompanied by a very annoying headache, and please stop comparing idiot things like, menstrual cramps are nothing compared to a kicked penis, does your dick kicked every month? Ha?
